Why Did I Sign Up?
I have enjoyed card making and paper crafting for many years. As a stay at home mum with three children, I wanted to have the chance to do something different from just being a mum and share my enjoyment of crafting with others while make some money to pay for my own craft supplies. In August 2012 I signed up as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. I started with a monthly class with three people that I knew who liked stamping and were keen to come to a class. From those three people who started with me, one has become a Demonstrator and has joined my team, one still regularly comes to classes, and the other one has moved on.
Since I started my classes eight years ago, a lot has changed. I have met many new people, taught a variety of classes and I have grown and learned along the way. Not only is it the people I have met through my classes that I appreciate, but also the friendships that I have made with other Demonstrators.
When I started out over eight years ago, I never knew where becoming a Demonstrator would lead to. It started with me teaching a class once a month as a way for me to purchase my own supplies. Now that all of my children are at school it has become my part-time job. I teach more classes and have a team. My craft supplies have hugely grown at no expense to the family budget and it is also a way that I can contribute to the family income as well as having fun at the same time.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What is the minimum sales requirement to stay active as a demonstrator? You need only submit about $550 per quarter to remain a demonstrator. (This is less than the average sales in a single workshop. If you hold just one event a month, you can usually meet your quarterly minimum. However, you can also purchase the minimum amount yourself or with a few friends). You can submit your sales requirements in one order or in smaller orders over the course of the three-month period.
2. What if I want to do this as a hobby and not necessarily as a business? You are welcome on the team no matter how you want to do things. If you choose not to hold events, you can work to generate online orders, orders from family and friends, and order product for yourself.
3. What if I don’t meet the minimums or things change for me and I quit? You may stop at any time and will not be penalized. You simply stop placing orders. However, there are many benefits to remaining an active demonstrator.
