Today’s Let’s Set Sail Card is cased from the January-June 2022 Mini Catalogue. If you check out page 70, you will see a similar card. Sometimes you want to make a card with a particular stamp set, but you just can’t think of where to start or what to make. This is what happened to me when I first saw this bundle, so I decided to see what creations Stampin’ Up! had come up with in the catalogue and then I cased one of their cards.
Firstly, you may be wondering what it means to “case” something. If someone says they have “cased” a card or project, it means they were inspired by someone else’s work.
There are a few acronyms for the word “case”. The first one is the most common one that I have heard of: Copy And Share Everything.
Here are a few more variations of the acronym for “case”.
– Copy And Steal Everything
– Copy and Selectively Edit (meaning putting your own spin on another person’s design or idea)
– Copied Another Super Edition.
Which acronym is your favourite?
You will see that my card is similar to the one in the catalogue, as I have cased it, but I have changed it so I am able to use the supplies that I have.
The card in the Mini Catalogue featured the New Horizons Designer Series Paper and the Heart & Home Memories & More Cards & Envelopes, but I didn’t have either of these for my card. Instead I used the new Gentle Waves background stamp to create the blue wavy lined background. I used stamps from the Let’s Set Sail stamp set to create a yellow and pink background which I cut out with the Circle Layering dies. I chose to stamp my sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink as it was a colour that I had already used on the card. I also adhered my card to a Misty Moonlight card base. The sentiment on the one made by Stampin’ Up! had the sentiment stamped in Garden Green ink.
Here is a list of the supplies I used to make my card.
Here is a photo with my card on the left and the card from the catalogue on the right. Can you see the similarities, but also the differences?
Which is your favourite? Please leave a comment and let me know. I won’t be offended if you prefer the Stampin’ Up! one.
Hopefully you have learned that casing a card can be a good thing to do because if you don’t know what to make, you can get ideas from others and then go from there. If you are copying someone else’s card and then sharing your card with others, it is always nice and respectful to acknowledge them too.
Thanks for coming by today and checking out my cased Let’s Set Sail Card.
