Elevate Your Cardmaking: Coloured Deboss with Ink Resist Technique

By | 18 December 2024

Last month in my crafting class, I taught an exciting new technique that those who made it absolutely loved: the Coloured Deboss with Ink Resist! This method combines texture, colour, and a touch of boldness to create a truly striking design, and now I’m sharing the basics with you.

Coloured Deboss with Ink Resist!, layered florals embossing folder

For this card, I used Basic White cardstock embossed with the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder. I coloured the debossed areas with Stampin’ Blends, bringing the recessed parts of the design to life with colour. Then, to create a vibrant contrast, I gently swiped a Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad across the top, highlighting the raised areas and making the florals pop.

Here is the embossing Layered Florals 3D embossing folder that I used:

This Coloured Deboss with Ink Resist! technique is incredibly versatile. You can experiment with different embossing folders, colour combinations, or layouts to suit any occasion—birthdays, thank-you notes, or just-because cards. Just be aware, not all embossing folders will suit this technique. Not all embossing folders are ideal for this technique. For the best results, choose designs with well-defined raised and recessed areas that work well when coloured.
