Looking for a flexible and budget-friendly way to build your ink collection? Stampin’ Spots for card making are a fantastic option—especially if you’re working with limited space, crafting on a budget, or keen to try the new In Colour, Cloud Cover, which isn’t available in a full-sized ink pad.

In my Facebook and YouTube Live on 17th July, I shared how to ink up your own spots, why they’re so handy, and how to create simple yet stylish monochromatic cards using them.
Stampin’ Spots are often casually called “ink spots” (you’ll hear me say that in the video), but their official name is Stampin’ Spots—and they’re such a clever addition to your stamping toolkit.

Why Use Stampin’ Spots in Your Card Making?
Stampin’ Spots are small, square ink pads that come either blank or pre-inked in assortment colour packs or as part of some card kits. They’re ideal for all sorts of crafty situations:
- A budget-friendly way to build your colour collection
- Great for inking small stamps or specific areas
- Easy to store and transport
- Perfect for the new In Colour, Cloud Cover, as a full-size pad isn’t available
Here’s a look at the pack of five uninked Stampin’ Spots, plus one I have inked up using the ink refill.

A little tip I shared in the live: use a small punched circle of cardstock on top and underneath the lid so you always know what colour you’re working with!
Monochromatic Card Ideas Using Textured Notes
To show off these ink spots in action, I created two versions of a simple monochrome card design—one stepped-up and one more pared-back—using the Textured Notes bundle – stamps and dies.
Here are a set of monochromatic cards using one ink colour per project, all created using Stampin’ Spots.

Each card uses a single colour throughout—background stamping, sentiment, and focal image—with a few simple embellishments like twine or pearls.
Cloud Cover Simple and Stepped-up Cards: The same layout can be kept simple or stepped up with added layers and embellishments.

Timid Tiger Card: A simple layout. A stamped Timid Tiger background on a Basic White card base.

Strawberry Slush Card: Bright and bold! A stepped a version, with the stamped background piece on a Basic White matting and then on a Strawberry Slush card base. The card also features extra stamping- stamped off circle basket weave stamp-, plus a Linen Thread bow has been added.
