Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer Tips

By | 21 October 2025

If you do any amount of card making or paper crafting, a Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer quickly becomes one of your most-used tools. In my Facebook and YouTube Live on 2nd October 2025, I shared a collection of handy tips and tricks to help you get cleaner cuts, straighter folds, and make the most of this essential tool.

Why the Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer is a must-have

Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been crafting for years, a reliable paper trimmer makes a huge difference. I use mine every time I craft — it cuts and scores with precision and keeps my card bases perfectly straight.

In the video, I demonstrated how to:

  • use the light-grey scoring blade and the darker cutting blade correctly
  • keep your trimmer clean for smoother cuts
  • replace blades easily
  • use the extendable arm for larger pieces
  • measure accurately with both metric and imperial guides

It’s a simple tool that makes your crafting easier and more enjoyable. Once you know a few extra tips, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it!

Practical cutting and scoring ideas

I also showed how scoring before cutting saves time when creating multiple card bases. You’ll see how to cut precise diagonals, clean the cutting track, and even how to clean your trimmer surface when it picks up glue or paper fibres. These little habits keep your trimmer in great condition and your cards looking neat.

Paper Trimmer in action

The Paper Trimmer Live video includes all of tips mentioned above, plus a full card project made using the Two-Tone cardstock and the Joined Together embossing folder. You’ll see how I combine these tools for a simple but effective card design.

I lightly sanded the Cloud Cover embossed surface to reveal the soft white tone underneath — a lovely detail that highlights the texture. For contrast, I layered it onto Secret Sea cardstock and added matching ribbon. The sentiment was stamped in Cloud Cover ink using the Spotlight on Nature dies for a simple circle layer. To finish, I added a few In Color Pearls for a subtle shimmer.

Inside the card, I used a small embossed strip to coordinate with the front — an easy way to tie your design together without adding extra stamping.
