This peek-a-boo card, or otherwise know as a shutter card is a fun gate fold card. Today’s card was the card I made for my daughter, Amanda who turned six! When the card is opened up you can see the “6” appear from behind the shutter. I wanted to make a fun card for Amanda as she enjoys making cards with me too.
It looks like a normal gatefold card:
Then wait and see what is inside. The shutter provides a lovely surprise and special feature to the card .
I decided to use the space on the back to write my message so it would be a bit more private and everyone could still enjoy the feature of the shutter opening.
This card is the same style as the card I taught at my class the other week where they made a gate fold shutter card using the Sending Love Designer Series Paper. I felt this colourful balloon paper would appeal to a six year old. Although this paper has now retired, there are lots of other fun, bright patterns papers available that would suit a similar style card.
Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Number of Years, So In Love, Balloon Celebration
Paper/Cardstock: Melon Mambo, Mint Macaron, Whisper White, It’s a Party Designer Series Paper (Retired)
Ink: Melon Mambo
Other: Stampin’ Trimmer, Big Shot, Large Number Framelits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Layered Circle Framelits, Banner Framelits, Sweetheart Punch, Washi Label Punch (retired), Sponges, Dimensionals, Tear & Tape, Liquid Multipurpose Adhesive
