If you’re looking for a project that’s fun, satisfying, and doesn’t take hours to put together, you’ll love this week’s Easy Texture and Tear Card. During my weekly live on 22nd May, I shared a card design that adds interest with layers and torn edges—such a simple detail, but it really makes a difference.

Team inspiration behind the design
One of the things I love most about being part of Stampin’ Up! is the creative inspiration we share as a team. It’s great that as team members we can share creations and inspire each other.
Here is the original card made by my team member, Tracey Paskell, which was the inspiration for the cards I made during the live.

Use texture and torn edges for beautiful card layers
I took some lovely patterned paper from the Floral Impressions Designer Series Paper and paired it with embossed white cardstock. The torn edge gives the card a relaxed, handmade feel, and, when you add a sentiment banner with a pop of ribbon behind, the design really comes together. ach version of the card used a different colour and ribbon combo—it was fun to see how the look changed just by switching those elements.
It’s one of those projects that looks impressive but comes together without too much fuss. Perfect if you’re crafting in short bursts or want a layout that’s easy to recreate again and again.
Below are the two cards I made:
The first one features one of the new colours, Timid Tiger.

Here is the second one in yellow, a mixture of Crushed Curry and Darling Duckling:

Even better, it’s not a tricky card to make! You don’t need complicated tools—just some patterned paper, an embossing folder, and your choice of sentiment and ink to stamp with. If you’ve got a few offcuts of ribbon and some embellishments, even better!
Here are the supplies I have used.

I walk you through the whole process step-by-step in last week’s Facebook and YouTube live. You’ll see the card I cased, how I adjusted the layout, and how easy it is to create your own version with the supplies you already have.
