How To Use Stampin’ Up! Blending Brushes – Thursday’s Tip

By | 8 April 2021

Today’s Thursday Tip is on how to use Stampin’ Up! Blending Brushes. You may be wondering what they are. Blending Brushes are a high quality blending tool. You use them to pick up ink from the ink pad to gently apply to cardstock in a swirling motion. Using Blending Brushes is a great way to add colour to your projects.

In the picture below you will see two different ways that I have used the Blending Brushes; colouring a stamped image, and using masks.

Two ways to use Blending Brushes

Ways to Use the Stampin’ Up! Blending Brushes:

Colour a stamped image: Here I have coloured the butterflies with the brushes.

Masks: Here I have used the brushes over a mask to create this pattern.

Most Important Tip!

When you use the Stampin’ Up! Blending Brushes, gently tap the brush onto the ink pad to collect some ink. Then make sure you either start off the page or dab it a couple of times on a scrap piece of paper first so the excess ink is on the paper and not a blob on your project. Apply the ink to your project in a swirling motion. Less ink and less pressure will give the image a lighter look. If you would like it to be darker, add more ink and apply slightly more pressure.

You may choose to have a Blending Brush for each colour group so that you won’t need to clean them.

How To Clean Blending Brushes:

If you only have a few brushes, then you will want to clean them after you have finished with them, or before you use them for another colour. You can clean them on the Stampin’ Shammy with a swirling motion and applying a little pressure. You could also gently run it under a tap to let the ink run out. You should then gently press out any excess water. You will need to let it fully dry before you can use it again. If you try and use it while it is damp or wet, it will not blend properly. You might also risk damaging your creation due to the water or dampness from the brush.
