Masking and Blending with the Sunrise Sailing Bundle

By | 17 August 2025

On 14th August, in my Facebook and YouTube Live, I featured the Sunrise Sailing bundle—but with a twist! The bundle’s embossing folder includes clouds, yet I wanted to take a different direction and add a bright sun instead. I shared two card versions: the first was a simple, one-layer design with just stamping and a sentiment added on top, while the second stepped things up with embossing and die-cutting. By adding texture to the sea and dimension to the boat, the whole scene came to life in a different way.

Here is what the card looks like using the embossing folder with the clouds. For my live, I changed it up and added the sun instead of the clouds.

After showing how to add a bright sun with masking, I created two different card versions in the live.

The first was a simple, one-layer card. I stamped the boat and waves, masked the sun, and then blended ink around it. Balmy Blue was brushed softly across the sky and Pool Party added gentle depth to the sea. The only extra layer was the sentiment, angled across the front for a clean finish.

The second version was a stepped-up design. This time I incorporated the Sunrise Sailing hybrid embossing folder and coordinating dies, which gave the sea beautiful texture and lifted the boat for added dimension. The same masking and blending were used to highlight the bright sun in the background, but with the added embossing and die-cutting, the whole card felt more layered and detailed.

Both versions show how versatile the Sunrise Sailing bundle can be—whether you’re after something quick and simple or a more detailed project with extra wow factor.

If you missed the live, you can watch the replay below to see both cards come together. I share tips for smooth blending, positioning the sun, and adding finishing touches like seagulls and shimmer on the waves.

Below is the Sunrise Sailing bundle. It includes the stamp set, the hybrid embossing folder, and coordinating dies. With so many elements working together, you can keep things simple with just stamping or step it up with embossing and die-cutting for added detail.
