Here is a very New Zealand card featuring the Pohutukawa tree. I can not take credit for originality for this card. My team leader, Julia Leece made one very similar to this and I cased it from her. I needed to send some cards overseas. I was a little late to send it for Christmas, so I made these to send to wish them a Happy New Year.
I made the card above and then made a slight change to some. Can you see the difference between the two cards? Which one do you prefer?
Did you notice the difference in the placing of the sentiment? I originally placed it lower down on the card, on the beach and water, but then I felt the sky was a little bare, so I put the sentiment higher. Both are nice, but I think I like the one with the sentiment higher.
You may be wondering what stamp set I used to make this card? I actually used stamps from five different stamp sets to make this card. It includes Peaceful Noel (now retired), Rooted in Nature, Waterfront, Colourful Season and Star of Light. The tree truck uses the branch from the Colourful Seasons stamp set. The leaves are from Rooted in Nature and the red Pohutukawa flowers are from the Peaceful Noel stamp set. The beach, sea and mountain is created with stamps from Waterfront stamp set. The mountain depicts Rangitoto Island. The sentiment is from the Star of Light stamp set.
The six colours I used include Soft Suede, Shaded Spruce, So Saffron, Real Red, Pear Pizzaz and Pool Party ink.
