The Polished Stone Technique was something I had heard about before, but never tried, so I decided to find out more about it and give it a go. The technique is the background that I created for this Dainty Delight flower image.
I used two of the 2021-2023 In Colors – Fresh Freesia and Soft Succulent. I love these colours and I will be sad to see them go when this current catalogues ends on 1st May 2023.
To create the Polished Stone Technique, you need to use some shiny, glossy type cardstock, so I used the Pearlescent Specialty Paper. I put some Isopropyl Alcohol on a cotton ball, along with a few drops of ink refill in my two chosen colours, and dabbed it all over the piece of Pearlescent Specialty Paper. Once it was dry, I stamped the Dainty Delight flower image with Black StazOn ink.
In the background of the card, I have dry embossed the Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder and added some Soft Succulent Open Woven Ribbon and Iridescent Rhinestones.
The Happy Birthday sentiment and die-cut shape is from the Something Fancy bundle. It may be difficult to tell from the photo, but the Happy Birthday is actually heat embossed. I stamped the image with VersaMark ink first, then with Soft Succulent ink. Next, I sprinkled on some Clear Embossing Powder and I heat set it. The sentiment is slightly raised and shiny!
Here are the supplies that I used.
This was one of the cards I taught at my class last month. If you would like to learn new techniques, like the Polished Stone Technique, and you live locally, why not come along to one of my classes? You can find out more here.
