This spritzed clear block background is a technique I used on some thank you note cards for my customers in June. Here is the card I made.
This card features a solid watercolour background which is created with an inked up clear block which is then spritzed with water. I have just used normal Whisper White cardstock to stamp it on and so I needed to hold the block down for a few seconds to let the ink soak into the cardstock. I made sure it had properly dried before I tried stamping on it again. The ink may come through onto the back of the cardstock a little, so that is why I stamped it on a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I then adhered to the note card front. That way it doesn’t show through onto the inside of the card.
Inking a block and spritzing it is a great way to create a background. You can try different sized blocks to create a different background.
Here is another card featuring the same type of technique but with a different sized block. The first card used a D sized block. This second card uses the long H block.
The stamp set that I used on this card is the Rooted in Nature stamp set. When I stamped the tree, I used Stampin’ Write Markers to colour the stamp, that way I could use Soft Suede ink on the tree trunk and Tranquil Tide on the main part of the tree. Once you have inked the stamp with the markers, remember to huff over the stamp. This moistens the stamp before you stamp it onto the paper and gives you better results.

For the note cards above I pressed the block into an ink pad and used one colour, but you can also do this technique with markers and use a few different colours. I have created a video showing you how to do this.
