Stampin’ Spots—sometimes referred to as ink spots—are such a handy addition to your craft stash. They are like a mini ink pad! They’re perfect when you want to try new colours, craft in a smaller space, or get creative without needing a full-sized ink pad.

On my Facebook and YouTube Live on 24th July, I shared three creative Stampin’ Spot techniques for cardmaking that you might not have tried before. Each one uses these mini ink pads in a different way—from soft blending to bold stamping—and they’re all quick to recreate. If you missed the live, you can watch the replay below.
Three creative Stampin’ Spot techniques for cardmaking
Here are three ideas that are easy to try, whether you’ve got a few spots already or are looking to get started with them.
1. Two-Tone Leaf Stamping Technique
This technique is all about creating depth and dimension. I used two green Stampin’ Spots—Granny Apple Green and Mossy Meadow—to ink up a leaf stamp with darker tones at one end and lighter tones at the other. You can play around with where the contrast goes: dark in the centre, light on the edges, or the other way around. You’ll be surprised how effective it looks!
To finish off the card, I added linen thread and mounted the stamped panel on Mossy Meadow cardstock. I also experimented with stamping around the border for a subtle background look.

2. Stampin’ Spot Squares as a Background
Instead of using a stamp, I pressed the Stampin’ Spots directly onto my cardstock to build a bold and playful background. The result is a square pattern-style design that adds texture and interest behind a large sentiment. Use different angles for variation.
This technique works especially well with colours from the same family or complementary shades.

3. Swiped Background with Stampin’ Spots
This one is messy—in the best way! I simply swiped my Stampin’ Spots across the cardstock to create bold streaks of colour. I used Cloud Cover, Strawberry Slush, and Timid Tiger, but you could try any combo you like. Once the background was dry, I stamped a sentiment and added some hearts in coordinating colours.
It’s simple but makes such a statement.
