Colouring made easy with masks! Today I have some stunning cards to share with you. They were made by one of my customers, Elaine Babe. Thank you for sharing them with us!
She has used the amazing Enduring Beauty bundle. This consists of a stamp set, die set and set of masks. The masks make colouring so much easier. As well as the wonderfully coloured image on each of these cards, some of them include some other techniques like heat embossing and dry embossing too.
Here is the bundle that she has used.
The masks make colouring so easy. No need to worry about keeping within the lines as the masks help you do that. And the different layers also help you create the shading in the flowers and leaves.
Here are the stunning four cards that Elaine created:
Card One – Pink:
The Enduring Beauty image has been stamped in Basic Gray ink and coloured with Bubble Bath, Granny Apple Green and Basic Gray ink using the masks. It was then die cut and adhered onto the pink sheen background with a Basic Black matting and onto a Basic White card base.
Card Two – Copper:
This Enduring Beauty image was coloured using the masks with Grapefruit Grove (used lightly) and Soft Sea Foam ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock. It was stamped with VersaMark ink, and Copper Emboss Powder was applied and heat set. It was then die cut and adhered to a piece of Copper Foil Paper. Doesn’t the copper embossing really make the image stand out?
Card Three – Blue:
The ink colours used to colour the flower and leaves are Boho Blue and Granny Apple Green. The detail of the image has been heat embossed this time with White Emboss Powder. Like the copper embossed one, it also helps the outline of the image stand out. The die-cut image has been adhered to a piece of Basic White cardstock and then matted onto a piece of Night of Navy. The card base is Boho Blue cardstock.
Card Four – Purple:
This card has a purple flower. The inks used to colour the Enduring Beauty image are Highland Heather and Soft Sea Foam. Like the previous card, the outline of the image has been heat embossed with White Emboss Powder. It has been die-cut and adhered to a dry-embossed white background with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. I love the texture behind the main image.
For all four cards, only the first leaf mask was used as she didn’t want the leaves too look too heavy.
Elaine’s Tip:
Elaine’s tip that she learned from Pinterest, is that when she was masking and hadn’t stamped first, she would always start with the No. 2 mask (the leaf) as it made it easier to line up the flowers. I haven’t tried using these particular masks myself, but I imagine that would help when you are stamping the image outline afterwards. Thanks for sharing this tip, Elaine.
These are stunning cards, with the same main feature on all four cards, but the different colour combinations used to colour the image, plus the different coloured background and textures and card bases create a variety of wonderful cards.
Do you have a favourite? Please comment and share which one and why. I love them all, so it is hard to choose. I love the blue one as blue is my favourite colour, but I quite like the texture on the purple one, so that may have to be my favourite. The copper is quite stunning and for those who likes pink, that card is lovely too. They are all special in their own way. I love them all!
I hope you have been inspired by these stunning cards created by Elaine Babe. And remember that for these cards, colouring is made easy with masks. Check out this Enduring Beauty bundle and you won’t colour over the lines!
