Emboss Resist Technique With Watercolouring & Dainty Delight

Today’s card uses the emboss resist technique and some watercolouring.  It was a card that I taught at my card classes last month.  It was inspired by a card created by my team leader, Jacque Williams.  She made a square card similar to this.  I loved the technique, but I prefer to make standard sized cards, so I adapted it and made it this size.

Firstly, I stamped the image, which is from the Dainty Delight stamp set, onto Watercolor Fluid 100 paper.  I stamped it with VersaMark ink, sprinkled it with white embossing powder, removed the excess powder, and heat set it.  Then I wet the paper with the large Water Painter brush, mixed some Crumb Cake ink with some water, and brushed it over.  The area where I had heat embossed the paper resists the ink and then the white embossed image shows through so you can see the stamped image.

Once the image was dry, I coloured the flowers and leaves with the Water Painter with the smallest brush using Fresh Freesia and Old Olive ink.   The edge of the stamped piece was also distressed with some scissors and then adhered to a slightly bigger piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

The background piece has been dry embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder. It is Crumb Cake cardstock, but it may look darker than usual.  That is because I have gently brushed the VersaMark ink pad across it which makes the cardstock go darker.

To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment and added a bow with Linen Thread and the Fresh Freesia Open Woven ribbon.

Here is the inside of the card:

Here is a list of the supplies. If products have retired, they will no longer show in the supply list.

The Emboss Resist technique is a great technique to try, so why not give it a go?
