Today’s card features the Floating Frame Technique. It was one of the cards that I taught at my classes last month in April. I used the Tropical Chic stamp set and coordinating Tropical Dies.
When you make this card, the floating frame technique allows you to make two cards, as you can use the middle piece that is cut out to make another card. Here is the second card made from this same technique.
You will notice that the circle on the bottom card is rotated slightly in comparison to how it was cut out of the top card. The flower is the focal point of this card.
It is hard to see from the photos, but on both cards, the leaves and flowers were adhered with Mini Dimensionals, meaning that they are raised off the card to give them that floating look.
The trick to making this card is to use a product that you would usually find in your kitchen and not your craft room. The product is “Press ‘n Seal”. It will help keep the die cut pieces in place as you cut out the circle and while you adhere all the Mini Dimensionals.
Did you notice that some of the flowers and leaves are two-toned? If you would like to learn more about how to do this, check out yesterday’s post, which was this week’s Thursday’s Tip.
If you are interested in making this floating frame technique card, I can either hold a class for you and a group of people, or you can purchase my tutorial of this card for $7. Please email me if you are interested in either of these options.
