Floating Watercolour Technique With Beautiful Day Butterfly

By | 9 March 2018

In my February class I taught the Floating Watercolour Technique.  It is a fun techniue to try that invovles heat embossing, aqua painters and reinkers.

floating watercolour technique, Beautiful Day, butterfly

The butterfly and the flower that are in the Beautiful Day stamp set are perfect for this technique.  It works well with a bigger stamp and the gold embossed image helps keep the water and ink in the different sections.  I used three different purples to colour the butterfly.  They were Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant.  The Elegant  Eggplant is quite a dark colour so I didn’t want too much of that, otherwise it would take over the butterfly.

The background is in Pear Pizzazz and is a nice soft colour.  The stamped background is created from the Butterfly Basics and Timeless Texture stamp sets.  It is stamped on Whisper White cardstock, but with all the sponging, it creates a Pear Pizzazz background.

I like to stamp on the inside of my card and also on the envelope so it all coordinates together so well.

This card was cased from a team swap from Christine Gedye.
