Paper Pumpkin is a great option for easy, enjoyable crafting. Everything arrives together in one box, ready for you to follow the instructions and create nine wonderful cards. You can make the projects exactly as designed, or change them to suit your own style.
In this week’s Facebook and YouTube Live, I shared the three floral easel cards from the Hooray for Birthdays Paper Pumpkin Kit, followed by two alternative cards using the exclusive stamp set and Detailed Flora Dies.
The Original Hooray for Birthdays Easel Cards
The July Hooray for Birthdays Paper Pumpkin Kit makes nine cards—three each of three colourful floral designs. What makes these cards a little different is that they are easel cards, so they fold flat for posting but can also stand up for display.
The kit includes the card bases, envelopes, die-cut flowers and leaves, stickers, sentiments, adhesives, an exclusive stamp set and a Timid Tiger Stampin’ Spot. Everything is ready for you to begin creating without needing to gather lots of additional supplies.
There are quite a few flowers and small pieces in this kit, so I found it helpful to sort everything before assembling the cards. I matched the flowers, leaves, labels and card bases with each design using the instruction sheet as a guide. Once everything was organised, the cards came together much more easily.
Two Hooray for Birthdays Alternatives
After showing the original kit cards, I created two alternatives to demonstrate how you can continue using the supplies in different ways.
Stamped Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card
The first alternative is a simple floral card created with the exclusive Hooray for Birthdays stamp set. Both versions use Hydrangea Hue for the larger flowers and Peaceful Pine for the stems and leaves, creating a fresh colour combination against the Basic White cardstock.
For the card I made before the Live, I added Crisp Cantaloupe flowers. During the Live, I mistakenly called this colour Calypso Coral, but it was actually Crisp Cantaloupe. For the second version, created during the Live, I changed the smaller flowers to Barely Blush for a softer look.
I also added the small crosshatch stamp behind the greeting on one card. This simple detail helps fill the open space and gives the sentiment a little more interest without taking the focus away from the flowers. It is an easy card layout that could also be recreated with other small floral stamps in your collection.
I also added some In Color Butterflies embesllishments to finish the card off.
Die-Cut Paper Pumpkin Alternative Card
For the second alternative, I used part of the pink patterned easel card base as Designer Series Paper on a standard card. I trimmed off only the section I needed, leaving enough of the original base to still complete the easel card. This is a helpful way to stretch the kit and create an extra card without losing one of the nine original projects.
I used the flower and leaf dies from the coordinating Detailed Flora Dies to create the floral arrangement, cutting the pieces from several In Color cardstocks. The stitched circle from the same die set provides a simple background for the flowers and helps them stand out against the patterned panel.
The Detailed Flora Dies coordinate with the July, August and September Paper Pumpkin Kits, but the shapes are versatile enough to use well beyond those three kits. The flowers, leaves and circle give you many more possibilities for creating cards with supplies you already own.
Creating with the Detailed Flora Dies
The Detailed Flora Dies are a separate Paper Pumpkin add-on designed to coordinate with the July, August and September kits. The set includes floral and leafy shapes, along with versatile circles that can be used for many other card designs.
These add-on dies are available only to current Paper Pumpkin subscribers and while stocks last. They are a helpful option if you enjoy creating alternatives or would like more ways to continue using your Paper Pumpkin stamps and supplies after completing the original kit projects.

A quick correction from the Live: I mentioned that I had used Calypso Coral ink, but the In Color I actually used was Crisp Cantaloupe.
