How To Use The Big Shot With Stampin’ Up! Dies & Embossing Folders – Thursday’s Tip

By | 25 June 2020

Today I will share with you how to use the Big Shot with Stampin’ Up! dies and embossing folders.

Big shot,

Although Stampin’ Up! is bringing out their own emboss and die cuting machine, the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, you may have a Big Shot and therefore may like to know which platforms or plates to use with what.

Check out the video to see how to die cut and emboss.

Summary of how to use the Big Shot:

Die Cutting:

Use the Big Shot Platform, with the Thin Die Adaptor, plus a cutting plate, then a piece of cardstock with the die on top (cutting edge facing down) and another cutting plate on top. If you are using a Magnetic Plate, then this replaces the Big Shot Platform and Thin Die Adaptor.

Embossing:

If you are embossing a standard embossing folder, use the Big Shot Platform, a cutting plate, the embossing folder with cardstock inside and another cutting plate on top.

If you are embossing with the older style of 3D embossing folder (it has Sizzix on it), use the Big Shot Platform, the embossing folder with cardstock inside and a cutting plate on top.

If you are embossing with the new style 3D embossing folder (without Sizzix on it), use the Big Shot Platform, the embossing folder with cardstock inside and a purple embossing plate on top. If you don’t have the purple embossing plate, you can use a cutting plate, but you will need to include some extra shim to make it thick enough. This may be one or two sheets of cardstock below the embossing folder. It will depend on your machine. Try less at first.
