The Paper Trimmer is one of the crafting tools that I use all the time. It is essential! If you are new to paper crafting, I would encourage you to purchase one. If you already have the Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer, you may be wondering how to use it. Today I will share some tips, along with a video, showing you how to use it.
The base of the Paper Trimmer has both metric and imperial measurements, so it suits all paper crafters, no matter which measurement system they use.
The trimmer has two blades so that you can cut and score.
The light grey blade is used for scoring. When using it, you will need to be careful of how hard to press. If you are scoring Designer Series Paper, then don’t press to hard, or you will rip a hole in the paper. You will need to press a bit harder when scoring cardstock as it is thicker.
The dark grey blade is used for cutting. When cutting, don’t press too hard, or you will get rough edges on your cardstock. A light gentle push of the cutting blade is all you need.
If you do notice the edges of what you are cutting are getting a bit rough, it may be time to clean out the track. Lots of little paper fibres collect in the track. If they aren’t cleaned out, then the blade won’t be able to give a nice clean cut.
After a while you will need to replace your blade with a new one. The replacement cutting blades come in a multi-pack of four.
The arm on the trimmer only has imperial measurements on it. For those of us, like me, who use the metric system, you can buy a replacement trimmer metric blade guide with metric measurements on it. This is very useful to have too.
