Subtle Striped Sponged Background With Shimmer Paint

This card has a lovely striped sponged background. It was created by masking off different areas of the card and then sponging in the unmasked area.

The colours I have used for the striped sponged background are as follows, Seaside Spray, Rococo Rose, So Saffron, Highland Heather and Pear Pizzazz. The stamp set I used to stamp on top of this was the Tropical Chic stamp set. I stamped the flowers and leaves in Rococo Rose ink.

It may be difficult to see in the photo, but I also spritzed the striped sponged background with Frost White Shimmer Paint. It gave the card a nice shimmer to it!

For the sentiment, I first stamped the Happy Birthday in Rococo Rose ink onto the Rococo Rose die cut rectangle, but it was a bit difficult to see on the same coloured cardstock. Instead I decided to white emboss the Happy Birthday and it looked a lot better.

I was going to use sequins in the white spaces, but unfortunately I got an ink smudge on the bottom left. As I needed to be creative to somehow hide the smudge, I decided to use a row of three pearls to hide it. I then I added the ones up the top to balance it out. I was pleased how it turned out.

This was the make n take card that my team leader taught us how to make at our virtual team meeting during the weekend. Even though during this time of COVID-19 we can’t gather together for team meetings, it is great that we can meet together online. Before the meeting we chatted with each other and could see each other on the screen as we used zoom. It is so wonderful to be a part of a wonderful Stampin’ Up! group. I am grateful to be part of a team that encourages each other as well as have my own team that I help and support too. If you have ever wondered about joining Stampin’ Up!, you can find out more about it here.

If you join up, you can be a part of our team meetings and learn to make cards this one, with its striped sponged background.
