Pigment Sprinkles are watercolour pigment crystals. You can mix them with water to make watercolour backgrounds and washes. You can also use them for other watercolouring techniques. They come in six exclusive Stampin’ Up! colours – Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, Mango Melody, and Melon Mambo.
Pigment Sprinkles are fun to use and they can add some amazing colour to your creations. It can get a bit messy when you use them, so I would suggest you cover your work space well before you begin!
Since you need water to use them, you need to make sure that the paper/cardstock you are using works well with water. The two options you have are Shimmery White cardstock or Watercolor paper.
Ways to Use Pigment Sprinkles:
If you use Pigment Sprinkles to create a background, create the background first. Once it’s dry, stamp an image onto it. You could also stamp an image first, and then colour it with the sprinkles. If you wish to stamp an image first, you will need to use an ink that is resistant to water. Otherwise, the stamped image will run when you add water to the sprinkles. StazOn is a good ink to use in this case. Just make sure you have StazOn Cleaner on hand for when you clean your stamp afterwards, as you can’t clean it the usual way. StazOn ink can only be removed from your stamps with StazOn Cleaner.
One of the projects from our March Extravaganza used the Pigment Sprinkles. The sprinkles were used to colour the flowers from the Tropical Oasis stamp set, which featured on the pyramid card. You can see the card here. The flowers were stamped and die cut first, and then coloured with the sprinkles.
