Tips On Using The Sailboat Builder Punch & Stamp Set – Thursday’s Tip

By | 21 April 2022

Today I am going to share some tips on using the Sailboat Builder Punch with the Let’s Set Sail stamp set. You can check out the video below too.

This simple sailboat card is similar to the black and white version I taught at Coffee & Cards, but I also wanted to make a card that involved stamping of the boat, so this is it.

This card is a note card sized card, so I kept it fairly simple. The sails are stamped in Misty Moonlight and Real Red ink. Misty Moonlight is one of my favourite colours and unfortunately it will be retiring soon. I was able to set up both sails on my clear block at once using the negative of the punched out sailboat shape, colour each of the with a different ink pad and then punch them out together.

I punched out the boat and sails in Crumb Cake cardstock. I put the negative punched out piece onto my Stamparatus.. I lined up the sailboat in the punched out negative, put the sailboat cardstock back in place in the cardstock negative and then stamped it with Crumb Cake ink to give if more definition. You can see how I did this in the video. The video also shows how I lined up the sails.

I stamped the refection in the water with Misty Moonlight ink and then adhered the sailboat directly to the card. The sails are adhered with Mini Dimensionals so they are lifted off the card a little and it looks like they have air in them. The birds were stamped in Black Memento ink. The sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.

Here is a video showing you how made this card and how I lined up the stamps before punching them out.

Here are all the supplies that I used.

If you would like to see an more advanced card using this stamp set, check out the Sailboat Slimline card that I taught at Extravaganza.

The Sailboard Builder punch and Let’s Set Sail stamp set are very versatile, so why not give them a try.

Hello. Your video was very helpful and informational. I’m trying to find that red silicone mold you were using for the sails and stick, I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I would like to know where you bought it.

Hi Liz. Thank for your kind comment. The red silicone mould is a Stampin’ Up! stamp set. It is photopolymer and usually clear, but often when you use red ink it stains the stamp and makes it look red. The stamp set and punch are retiring soon on 1st May, so if you are keen to get it, you would need to order it before then.

If you would like to purchase and you are in New Zealand, you can order it through my online store and buy it through me, or contact me and I can help place the order for you.

I don’t live in New Zealand. I live in the United States. Does that mean I can’t purchase the item?
