Sunset Coast Stamp Set Cards are a wonderful option when you need a card that is quick to make but still looks polished and thoughtful. In my Facebook and YouTube Live on 4th June, I shared how to create a simple coastal scene using just a few stamps and ink colours, making it suitable for birthdays, thinking of you cards, anniversaries, and many other occasions.

These cards were also one of the projects we created at Coffee & Cards this month. The simple design was perfect for both experienced crafters and those newer to stamping, and everyone enjoyed seeing how a few simple stamped images could create such an effective scene.
Sunset Coast Stamp Set Cards for Any Occasion
One of the things I enjoy about the Sunset Coast stamp set is how easy it is to build a complete scene with only a handful of images. By combining the water, clouds, sun, and sailboat, you can create a striking card without needing lots of layers or complicated techniques.
For the cards I shared during my Live, I used:
- Misty Moonlight
- Balmy Blue
- Secret Sea
- Daffodil Delight
The bright yellow sun against the blue tones creates a lovely contrast and draws your eye straight to the centre of the card.
I’ll be sharing several photos below so you can see the different variations. Some were kept very simple with a white background, while others included light ink blending and extra details such as birds in the sky.
Adding Extra Details
The basic card design works beautifully on its own, but I also experimented with a few variations.
One version includes subtle Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight ink blending around the edges. Another features birds flying across the sky, which helps create even more of a coastal feel.
The birds came from the retired On the Horizon stamp set. If you happen to have the Lakeside Retreat Paper Pumpkin Kit, there are bird stamps included in that kit which work well too, although they are slightly larger. Of course, any bird stamps you already have in your collection would work just as well.
Sunset Coast Stamp Set Card Variations
Here are a few variations using the same basic design. By changing the mat colour, adding some ink blending, including birds, or using a different sentiment, you can create cards that look quite different while still using the same stamps and layout.
This first card has a Balmy Blue matting and no sponging. I have kept the background white.

For this second card, I sponged the background. Balmy Blue for the sky and Misty Moonlight for the sea. This has Secret Sea matting.

For this card, I have also sponged the background and added some birds, It has a Misty Moonlight matting.

Inspiration Behind These Sunset Coast Stamp Set Cards
This card was inspired by a project created by Mo Rootes of Crafty Rootes in the UK. I really liked the colour combination she used with the Sunset Coast stamp set, so I used that as my starting point.
I then adapted the design by creating it on a note card, adding a cardstock mat, incorporating some ink blending, and finishing the scene with birds. It’s always fun to take inspiration from another crafter and put your own spin on a project.
