Patterned Paper Technique Live Online Card Class

By | 16 August 2020

This month I am holding a live online card class. Once a month I have a card class at my home for my local customers. With Auckland remaining at alert level 3, my regular class is not able to go ahead in person this month. Instead I have decided to do it online. The projects are something you can make at home with craft supplies that you are already likely to have.

Since I am doing an online card class, I thought I would open it up to others too, as location is no longer an obstacle. It will be a live class via Zoom. This will allow you to see what I am doing and I will be able to see you too. I will be able to answer any questions you have as you make the cards with me. I will also know how fast or slow to go.

The class will start at 2:30pm on Sunday 23rd August and will last for about one and a half to two hours. It is a little difficult to know exactly how long it will be as I haven’t done a class online like this before.

Below are the two cards we are going to make. The first one has two versions of it. Below the photos is a list of supplies of what you would need to make the cards. When you sign up and register for the class, you will be given a complete list with the measurements so you can pre-cut your pieces before the class so you are ready to go. You will also receive the Zoom link for the class.

The first card is a Double Gate Fold Card made using double-sided Designer Series Paper/ patterned paper. You can choose to have a sentiment or a die cut image on the belly band, depending on what you have available to use.

The second card is a great way to use up strips of Designer Series Paper/patterned paper that you have left over. I have used it to create a masculine, Father’s Day card, but you can use any patterned paper to create the same background.

Supplies that you will need:

Supplies for both cards:
• Paper Trimmer that scores too
• Adhesives – Liquid multipurpose glue, tape, Dimensionals

Card One – Double Gate Fold Card:
• Designer Series Paper/Patterned Paper – approx. half a sheet of 12” x 12” (14.85cm x 30cm) – it needs to have a design on both sides as you will get to see both sides of the paper.
• Coordinating coloured cardstock – about one sheet of A4
• Whisper White cardstock – about half a sheet of A4
• Sentiment stamp set
• Stamp set that coordinates with the patterned paper – for the inside of the card
• Ink pad/s – a colour that coordinates with your patterned paper and to stamp any images
• Pencil and ruler
• A punch or die cut shape for your sentiment or a die cut image to go onto the belly band, plus cardstock for this
• Optional – Embellishments. For example: sequins, gems, rhinestones.

Card Two – Striped Patterned Paper Background:
• Strips of Designer Series Paper/Patterned Paper
• Coordinating coloured cardstock – about quarter of an A4 sheet
• Whisper White cardstock – about one sheet of A4
• Twine or ribbon
• A punch or die cut out shape for your sentiment
• Sentiment stamp set
• Stamp set that coordinates with the patterned paper – optional
• Ink pad – a colour that coordinates with your patterned paper
• Hole punch

The cost of the online class is $15.

If you are interested in the class, but not able to attend the live class, please email me and let me know as I will also look at recording the class and selling it as a pre-recorded class.
