Creating Your Own Background & the Adorable Owls Stamp Set

By | 28 February 2023

Creating your own background is something fun to try. I have done this by using the Hand-Drawn Dots stamp set and blending some ink over it. This is a great technique to try when you don’t have the right coloured Designer Series Paper. This technique enables you to make your own patterned paper in the colour you need.

I have used the Hand-Drawn Dots stamp for the background of these cards. It is a large stamp and great for a background. I haven’t used the full stamp, but stamped a slightly narrower piece of Basic White cardstock with it. I stamped it in a particular colour and then used the Blending Brush to lightly colour the background in that colour. In the cards above, I used Sweet Sorbet for the card on the left and Orchid Oasis for the one on the right.

The owls were stamped in Memento ink, and then coloured in Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie and Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends. They were cut out with a circle from the Layering Circle dies. There is also a scalloped circle behind it in the colour of the card.

To finish it off, I stamped a sentiment, punched the edges of it as well as added some ribbon and a few Iridescent Basic Jewels.

Here are the supplies I used, https://s.tamp.in/RH23J_
