Here is Red Velvet Poinsettia card that I taught at the Auckland Christmas Extravaganza event last weekend.

The Poinsettia flower was cut from the Red Velvet Paper, layered and then a Beaded Pearl was added to the middle of it. I adhered the pearl with a couple of Mini Glue Dots. One may been enough, but I wanted to make sure it was secure!

This card featured three different techniques. The first was the Shimmer Paint. We mixed some of this with some isopropyl alcohol in a Spritzer, shook it very well and carefully sprayed it over the small embossed white piece of the front of the card. This small piece of Whisper White cardstock had been embossed with the Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder.

The second technique was inking the Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder with Soft Suede ink before putting the piece of Crumb Cake cardstock into it. The ink really defines the embossed texture. The photo below shows the different between inking on the embossed side and debossed side. The card above has the embossed side with the ink, however on the day we actually did it on the other side, but this was the only card I after the event to photograph. Earlier in the year I shard a video on how to ink your embossing folders. You can check it out here.

The third technique was heat embossing. We stamped “Merry Christmas” with VersaMark ink and then sprinkled white emboss powder over it. We tipped off the excess and heat embossed the words with the Heat Tool. This was one of the first techniques I ever learned when I started stamping and I still really enjoy using it!
