Today I am going to share with you about using VersaMark & Embossing Powder with Decorative Masks. This is part three of different ways to use Decorative Masks.
The card below shows the Real Red background created with one of the Adoring Designs Decorative Masks from the July – December 2021 Mini Catalogue, and it has been clear embossed.
To create the background I first brushed my piece of Real Red cardstock with the Embossing Buddy. This helps to get rid of any static. Unfortunately Stampin’ Up! don’t sell these anymore, but if you can get hold of one they are useful. I then placed the Decorative Mask over the cardstock and taped it down. Next I carefully swiped my VersaMark ink pad over the Decorative Mask. When I felt the pattern area had enough VersaMark ink on it, I carefully removed the mask and sprinkled on some clear Embossing Powder. I removed the excess and heat set it with my Heat Tool. The Decorative Mask does get quite sticky after having VersaMark swiped over it, so I used Isopropyl Alcohol to clean it.
The clear embossed image may not be perfect, but that is okay. It gives it some texture and shine to the card. Some Decorative Mask patterns are probably easier to do with this technique than others. You may like to give different ones a try and see which one you like best. I used clear Embossing Powder, but you can try other colours too; white, black, gold, silver, or copper.
These are the Decorative Masks which are currently available. They come in sets of four. Two are from the Annual Catalogue and one is from the Mini Catalogue.
